Folivora

An ongoing research of traditional rhythmic patterns from latin america, their bending, and their clash to several references and styles such as cumbia, hip hop, jazz and serialism to name a few.

The name Folivora is a direct reference to sloths, a mammal with its origin in South America known by its slowness of movement. Folivora also means aversion to work, which in our global context I understand as a mode of slavery produced by capitalism and self-reinforced in individuals by the romantization of productivity, extractivism and consumption (between much more).
Sloths consume a low-energy diet of leaves, and when they defecate, which is once a week on average, they expose themselves to predators to dig a hole in the ground and give back to earth what they took.
