Stung is a performative installation realized during an artist residency at Sound Art Lab, in Struer, Denmark.
The piece belongs to Machine’s Ecologies, an ongoing artistic research about sonic relations between human, machine and nature agencies. It explores the engagement in situated sonic practices, as field recording, circuit design and sound synthesis, as an articulator of new understandings on complex ecologies emerging from local multiagency relations.
This particular iteration of the exercise set a relation between field recording of the Limfjorden's sound surrounding Struer, found electronic parts on the old Bang & Olufsen factory, an 8 channel system of the Sound Art Lab, a Serge voice panel that I have build in the month before arriving to the residency, and a Macumbista Butterfly Benjolin that was send directly to Sound Art Lab.
For a week a particular room of the old Bang & Olufsen factory was set as an installation open to be informed by visitors. Each day new recordings and patching were made, creating a new soundscape that reflected the experience of daily life in that particular environment.
