Nico Espinoza (Curicó, Chile, 1986) is a composer and transdisciplinary artist currently based in Lisbon. His artwork critically explores the tensions between universal abstraction and local experience present in the contemporary discourses on cognition, ecology and technology.
His compositions, performances and installations have been exhibited in Latin America and Europe, and he has also designed immersive sound experiences for creative studios and institutions such as Champalimaud Centre for the Unknown, Maotik Studio, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, cactus.is and JPG.ARQ.
He holds an M.A. in Sound Studies and Sonic Arts from the University of the Arts Berlin (UdK Berlin) and an M.Sc. in Electronics from the Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María (Valparaíso, Chile), and is currently enrolled in the inter-university Digital Media PhD program between Nova University, University of Lisbon and University of Porto.
